P.A.R.O.S.H. (Paolo Rossello Second Hand)
The P.A.R.O.S.H. story begun 20 years ago and was started by Italian designer Paolo Rossello. It all started in the '80s when Rossello began customising vintage clothes, re-designing them and giving them a second life. This is still the way P.A.R.O.S.H. (which stands for Paolo Rossello Second Hand) creates its luxurious vintage-fusion clothing. Strips of Pakistani fabric are assembled and reconstructed into colourful coats, while US Marines’ standard issue sweaters, adapted in their shape and softened by embroidery and beads, are transformed into glamorous evening pieces.
The work generating P.A.R.O.S.H. is in the hands, feelings and emotions of the multi-etchinc team participating in it. Despite its growth and its important status, the Company seems a large family, where everyone works closely with each other, sharing the same good energy. Paolo Rossello takes part in every moment, from concept and technical research to the identification of the garment, to production and sales.
The renown of P.A.R.O.S.H. is mainly linked to the product: to the way it achieved interaction with men and women who didn’t know it but who were drawn by its original yet harmonious originality. The first steps back then have led to a consolidated present which is recognized at an international level: P.A.R.O.S.H. can be found nowadays in the best shop windows in the world.
P.A.R.O.S.H. has a strong relationship with distribution, also thanks to the highly professional services offered by the Company, ensuring impeccable timing and methods in every phase of the joint work, from delivery of collections and pre-collections to re-stocking.
The approach and touch of Paolo Rossello gives life to clothes and fabrics with a personal style and a strong and self-assured creative energy, which does not follow seasons and which presents men and women collections having their own evolving, yet distinctive, character: refined, updated garments, easily veined by a palpable ethnic/vintage vibration; precious fabrics, presented in an understated way (ruffled silks, garment-dyed cashmere, opaque sequins); the colour element is crucial (“Colours are the legacy of all cultures,” states Paolo Rossello). There is irony, an intelligent sense of humour which barges in like an irreverent and naughty child, arranging and rearranging, drawing smiles.
Playing becomes the rule: nothing wants to be taken too seriously. The fox’s tail takes on the colours of martorana fruit, the serious cashmere v-neck jumper comes in camouflage print, ermine turns into a man’s scarf, the typical mohair throw takes on the shape of a jumper or scarf. The combinations become countless, every one unique, every one perfect. To dive into the suprising world of P.A.R.O.S.H. all you need to do is to lose yourself in the vast showroom/laboratory where the headquarters of the Company can be found, in Milan.
